Lantern Slides of Classical Antiquity Project

THE LANTERN SLIDES OF CLASSICAL ANTIQUITY PROJECT IS NOW MAINTAINED AND HOSTED BY BRYN MAWR COLLEGE AT http://www.brynmawr.edu/Admins/DMVRC/lanterns/lantindx.html.

The Lantern Slides of Classical Antiquity Project, a joint project of CSA and Bryn Mawr College, is in the process of adding another 150 images to the database. These new images should be available by the middle of October and should make the Web site even more valuable.

These newly digitized lantern slides (3 1/4 x 5 in. glass-mounted, black-and-white slides) are also from the Bryn Mawr College collection, and, as with the others, they have been digitized and will be available on the Web at two levels of resolution, one approximating the VGA standard of 640 x 480 pixels and the other at roughly the XGA standard of 1024 x 768 pixels. The Web images, of course, are compressed in JPEG form. The original scans are uncompressed TIFF files at much higher resolution. Those high-resolution files are archived at CSA on CD-Roms.

The Web address is http://csanet.org/lanterns.
